The Perfect Monsoon DIY

Monsoon can be frustrating when often you’re forced to stay indoors. And when you’ve run out of all the board games and the poor internet due to the weather leaves no room for netflix and chilling, you may have to resort to fun DIY projects to feed your creative soul. This one such unique artform will not just keep you busy but in the process will beautify your home and everyday objects. Essentially an art of coloring, cutting, assembling and glueing paper to a surface according to one’s own design, in reality, it is so much more! Let’s introduce you to the art of ‘Decoupage’!

There’s an artist in everybody fighting to get out. Decoupage proves to be that orifice to let out creativity, experiment and most importantly to have immense fun decorating your surroundings with minimal resources – a reason it was originally also called ‘a poor man’s art’ in the traditional times. It is an artform that is extremely versatile where you could go as wild as country or as sophisticated as french! And this indeed is the most fun part about decoupage that you can absolutely do anything with it – classic or contemporary.

The materials you need are very few – colored or printed paper, coloring pencils or paint if you want to create and color your own design, a good pair of cuticle scissors, white glue, acrylic spray, varnish and brushes and sometimes sandpaper depending on your project. Wait till you find out how easy it is to reproduce prints for decoupage that you can find in wrapping papers, colouring books, calendars, postcards apart from prints specially made for decoupage. From furniture to liquor bottles, decoupage is a really inexpensive way to decorate things around you.
